Where hope and healing take root

Simple Promise Farms is a nonprofit in Elgin, Texas supporting addiction
recovery through meaningful work, community, and purpose. Through farming and community partnerships, we help individuals restore dignity, build life skills, and rediscover purpose.

How we help

Cultivating growth from the ground up

Simple Promise Farms in Elgin, Texas is more than a working farm. It is a place where healing gets its hands dirty. Recovery happens in community through shared work, responsibility, and purpose, which is why we partner with recovery programs and sober living homes across Central Texas to support men and women in early recovery as they rebuild their lives.

We call our model regenerative recovery. Just as soil can be restored, so can a life shaped by addiction. At the farm, individuals take on real daily work, grow food, and contribute to something larger than themselves. In that process, dignity returns, purpose is rebuilt, and lasting transformation is realized.

Texas Country Reporter: Healing in the Garden

Being featured on Texas Country Reporter was a meaningful milestone for Simple Promise Farms and Ranch House Recovery. As one of the nation’s longest-running syndicated programs, it offered a powerful platform to share our mission of recovery through meaningful work, community, and connection.

The feature highlighted how daily work on the farm supports restoration, helping men and women in recovery rebuild responsibility, trust, and purpose. More than growing food, the farm is a place where people begin to grow again.

Community stories

The farm’s mission comes to life through the voices of volunteers, employees, alumni, and community members shaped by their time here. Each story reflects the impact of meaningful work, real connection, and belonging. From the field to the farmers market, Simple Promise Farms is not just growing food, but helping people grow into new chapters of their lives.

“My experience in treatment would not have been the same without working on the farm. It has changed how I view my body, the choices that I make to stay healthy, and how I want to live my life. Sharing my story and working side-by-side with the community has helped me with my recovery and will, hopefully, help someone else.”

- Tim Templeton, Ranch House Recovery Alumni & Simple Promise Farms Volunteer

“Very simply, I find peace and joy and connection when I’m out on the farm and in the garden. Not just the physical connection to the earth and the food that I put into my body, but also to the community that exists around the farm.”

- Kevin Sease, Ranch House Recovery Alumni and Simple Promise Farms Employee

“Simple Promise Farms brings nutrition and healthy eating into people’s homes. For me, though, this community and farm helped save my life.”

- Alex Galow, Ranch House Recovery Alumni & Simple Promise Farms Volunteer
